Palette Collab with SuperNovaBeauty – Too Faced Natural Love

Collab Time!!

About a month ago, I came across SuperNovaBeauty. Right from the get go, I realized this blog was GOALS!!! Nova runs a colorful, informative and might I add, very well organized site. She has a few recurring posts, my favorite being Palette Roulette, where she randomly picks a palette from her collection and creates looks from it all week.

Which is why when I reached out to Nova to see if she wanted to Collab on a post, I was so excited when she suggested doing Palette Roulette with a twist. Instead of picking 1 palette for the week, we would each pick 5 shades for one another and create a look with those colors and then a separate look with colors of our choosing.

We both agreed on the Natural Love palette from Too Faced because we thought it would be perfect for spring. The neutral browns, pinks, peaches and plums has a very Spring Awakening feel to it without all the 19th century German teen angst.

Now remember when I said that Nova is super organized? Well, even though I initiated this collab, she took charge like the Beauty General I invision her to be and sent me my 5 shades in a timely manner and sent me pictures of all her looks a week before our deadline.

Me, on the other hand, exhibited classic Hot Mess moves and was basically 2 days behind her on everything. I am very much the soldier in this relationship.

Needless to say her look came out FREAKING AWESOME! When I was checking out her previous posts, I noticed that she has excellent color control and is perfect at executing a sharp and well blended look, so I didn’t want to just throw a bunch of browns at her and see a basic neutral look. However, the Natural Love palette has a bit of a color deficit, but I think I managed to give her some colors that not only allowed her the creative freedom she seems to like, but also a bright and colorful look.

Below is her look with the shades I chose and the descriptions of each color:

“Honey Butter: Crease and lower lash line. This is a lovely peach matte shade that builds up quite nicely. Such a nice shadow to start off a spring look!

Makeup & Chill: Crease and outer corner. This is a great deep matte brown that blends really easily, despite being quite deep. This also gave the crease some warmth.

Bunny Nose: Inner corner and inner third of the lid after cutting the crease with a white concealer. This is such a pretty medium pink shimmer with a cool undertone. It packed really well on top of the concealer to give you a vibrant pink. I think the shimmer shades in this palette definitely benefit from a tacky, white base!

Kittens: Center of the lid, also applied on top of concealer. This is a light lavender-pink with a duo chrome gold flip. This shade is actually pretty unique, since purple-gold duochromes aren’t nearly as common as pink-gold duo chromes! This shade again packed on really well on top of concealer, and I love the overall effect it gave.

Love Bug: Outer lid and outer lower lash line. This is a deep plum shimmer that applied well wet. It is great for finishing off the outer corner of a look!

Overall, I am really happy with how this look turned out! I thought the combination of warm matte shades in the crease with cool shimmery lid shades would be really interesting and provide a nice contrast! Maritza seriously picked out the perfect shades for a spring look!”

Ok, can we say beautiful? So this is a little like following the Beatles, but below is my look. I told Nova that I am way more comfortable with neutral colors and that I have a slight issue working with dark colors, so being the kind General that she is, she assigned me some beautiful fiery pinks and coppers, but also some deep browns and plums to test my limits.

I have to admit that I struggled with this look, not because of the color selection, but because between traveling for work and 20 million interruptions from the kids, I kept starting and stopping. However, inspiration came from the Avengers: Infinity War movie. I was getting ready to go see it with the family and basically channeled a mix of Scarlet Witch and Black Widow and went with a slightly fiery, smoky eye.

I need to work on my eye close ups!

Honey Butter – used this lovely light muted peach as a transition shade on the crease and up towards the brow bone.

Spoiled – the deep brown with just a hit of burgundy was perfect for the inner crease and on the outer V

Hot and Bothered – a shimmery and firery copper. I applied this with my finger on the center of the lid and went back into Makeup and Chill to blend the edges a bit.

Honeymoon – my favorite of them all! This shimmery orange pink is my JAM! I applied this on the inner lid and blended it into Hot and Bothered. I also concentrated it a bit on the inner corner and dragged it down a bit to the innermost lower lash line.

Undercover – a dark brown/plum with a touch of glitter. I deepened the outer v a touch more and dragged this down the lower lash line and smoked it out using a dash of Spoiled and then a bit of Honey Butter to lighten it up.

I really like this look and I have to be honest, I would never had used Honeymoon and Hot and Bothered together because to the naked eye they seem very similar, but in reality they are not and play perfectly with each other.

I told you Nova has an eye for color!!

My second look is way more basic, but I love it nonetheless. It’s actually a really easy work look for me.

I used Lace Teddy on the upper crease. Nudie on the inner crease and a bit on the outer V. Then I deepened the outer V with Chocolate Martini and swept some of it down to the lower lash line. I patted Push Up on the middle lid with my finger and then did the same with Satin Sheets on the inner lid. All Done!

I want to thank Nova for participating in this collab. She is literally a Super Star as her name suggests and if you haven’t checked her blog or Instagram, please do so! She is the BOMB!

Rocksbox

Rocksbox Reveal Vol. 4

April, you flew by and gave me some whiplash! But you know what that means, right? It’s Rocksbox Reveal time!

So, I am going to preface this post by saying that this was not one of my favorite boxes and I’m sorry if it sounds a little negative. I’m one of those people that always tries to find the good in things, but sometimes it is what it is, right?

However, let’s kick it off with what I LOVED! The Aster Cosmos Ring In Moonstone is what I am talking about, Rocksbox! I love everything about this piece. I love that it’s Rose Gold. I love its minimalist design. I love the Moonstone. It’s like my stylist reached inside my soul and pulled my every hearts desire.

After batting a homerun with the above mentioned ring, I was left a little perplexed with the next two pieces.

For one thing, I feel like I already got a similar piece in one of my past boxes to the Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace and I sent it back. Which is what I am going to do with this one because my previous feedback still stands. The stone is GORGEOUS, but the necklace is just a little too short for my taste. I’m not of a fan of chokers and this almost rides like one. So, I think my stylist didn’t check my files before sending this piece.

The last piece, I feel like was sent to me based on comments from my last box. I remember distinctly saying that I like earrings that had a bit of fluidity and these Sophie Harper Maria earrings have a lot of jiggle, however, I find them to be so boring. Sigh.

Once again, I left my feedback and in less that 24 hours, I got an email from Courtney, Lead Stylist, that in order to ensure that my next box was picture perfect, she has assigned one of her best stylists, Allison, to my account.

I feel kind of bad for my previous stylist, Rose, but sometimes things just don’t work out.

Once again, the customer service for Rocksbox is top notch! It’s refreshing to be reached out to, instead of the other way around.

If you want to try Rocksbox for yourself, feel free to use my referral code MaritzaBFF39. You get your first box free and I get a $25 credit for a future purchase. Win/win!!

Till next time, my friends!

What’s in My Makeup Makeup Bag? – Business Travel Edition

From time to time, I am forced invited to attend meetings outside the comfort of my home office. I do happen to work for your typical Corporate America Conglomerate, so these business meetings actually require me to fit a certain mold.

Now all you non-comformists out there are probably saying “Screw Corporate America! You can’t tell me what to wear on my face!” And although that is true, sometimes pink and purple eyeshadow will make you stand out amongst a bunch of suits and, quite frankly, I need my job, so I’m not about to rock any boats over eyeshadow.

With that being said, business casual does not necessarily mean boring. When pressured to rock the neutral look, I always incorporate a slight pop of champagne shimmer on the eyes and cheekbones and a nude, yet fresh lipstick.

It’s not about conforming, it’s about contouring.

Damn, I crack myself up!!

Anyways, below are my tried and true business travel/meeting essentials. These are no fails and I always get compliments on my look from my clients and or colleagues.

Eyes:

Burt’s Bees Eyeshadow Trio In Shimmering Nudes. Not only is this small and lightweight, but the colors are business basics, with a touch of glam. I usually amp it up and apply a touch more shimmer from my highlighter in the center and inner corner for that BANG! effect.

Colourpop Creme Gel Eyeliner In Mr. Bing. The perfect brown. I’ve raved about this eyeliner before, so won’t go too much into it, but everyone needs a nice brown to travel and this one never leaves my side. It’s creamy and long lasting and I use it on the water line and smudge it a bit on the lower lash to create a slightly smoky effect.

Burt’s Bees Nourishing Mascara. Another favorite and really any mascara will do, but make sure it’s long lasting and flake free. Meetings can sometimes run for hours and the last thing you want are raccoon eyes halfway through your PowerPoint presentation.

Face

Tartiest Pro Glow Contour and Highlight Palette. This is a two-fer. You can use this palette for countouring and highlight, but in lieu of an eyeshadow, it also works as eyeshadow. Seriously! This palette is a miracle worker.

Antonym Cosmetics Blush in Peach. A perfect peach shade to give you a healthy glow after a long flight or a night spent going over your notes and presentation is all you need. I like this blush from Antonym because it has just a touch of shimmer to make your look soft and glowy.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. This is a MUST. Meetings stress me out and make me lose sleep, so a good concealer will be your best friend. Trust me!!!

Covergirl Vitalist Pressed Powder. Another must have to set the above mentioned concealer and to control the stress induced shine. Forgot to somehow include a pic of this, but don’t forget to powder, folks!

Farsali Rose Gold Elixir. I use this stuff as moisturizer (day and night) and as primer, so it’s the perfect travel companion. No need to haul your entire skincare collection when this one can pull triple duty in a pinch.

Lips

Real Her Women Rule the World Lip Liner. A cute and fun pink that takes a neutral lip up a notch. Also it’s creamy and pigmented and in a pinch can work as a lip color with a touch of gloss.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte In Bombshell. Seriously, this color is a lifesaver and perfect for any occasion. I love that it’s a neutral, but also pinky peach and can lighten any look. I would buy the entire stock in Sephora if Huda ever announces she was discontinuing it.

What are your travel essentials? Any good recommendations? If so, drop them in the comments below.

Till next time, my friends!

Boxycharm · Subscription Boxes

Boxycharm – April

I feel like I am no longer a Boxycharm newbie. Having received 4 boxes now, I think that I’ve developed a relationship with them. Sure it may be completely one sided at this point, but it runs deep and I am totally invested in it.

Boxycharm, I love you and if you continue to send me stuff that I enjoy and use each month, I feel like I will love you to the end of time.

Winners

Colourpop My Little Pony Palette. A few months ago there was a battle of the My Little Pony palettes with both Colourpop and Pur coming out with their own versions. Having only seen the Pur one in picture, I think it was way brighter in color than this Colourpop one and I think that’s why I gravitate towards this one. The shades are colorful, but slightly muted and if you are a little hesitant to use color, then this is a good starter. It has neutrals (top row), bright berries (middle row) and shimmery and dark cool greens (last row). I created the look below using all of the middle row colors and they blended beautifully and color did not fade at all. I really like this palette!

Brow Gal Eyebrow Gel. Anytime I get a brow product in a box, I do a happy dance. As a girl with sparse and blonde brows, I love having lots of options in the case I lose something, but trust me, I won’t be misplacing this little love anytime soon. The wand is quite tiny, which is nice and I’m sure there is not much product in there, but this little beauty provides just a hint of dimensional color in the form of a tinted gel and it keeps your brows in place without giving you that crunchy feeling. Winner!

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner. I’m a big fan of Dr. Brandt. They are a Miami brand and you all know I support my Miami peeps, but brand loyalty aside, they also make pretty damn good stuff! This is a mask, that when you first apply, it’s white and the blue beads burst turning your face Smurf like. Immediately, there is a cooling sensation and then it dries down and you wash it off. I didn’t see any dramatic reduction in pores right away, but I did feel that it reduced the overall shininess and that was nice. It made for a good makeup day.

Somewhere Between Winner and Meh

Adess New York Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick. When I first tried this lipstick, I wasn’t too much of a fan. It was a little sticky and I didn’t like the feeling of it. However, the color is GORGEOUS! It’s like a slightly red toned brown and it’s great for day or night color. It’s not a liquid lip, so there is no longevity what so ever and the gloss wears off fairly quick, so reapplying is a must. I think I’m still fairly ambivalent about this product and that’s why it’s between winner and meh.

Meh

Tartiest Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter In Stunner. I love seeing big brand names in my Boxycharm, but this Tarte product is not for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love liquid highlighters, but this was just too glittery for my taste. Also, as the day wore on, the shimmer faded and in its wake left and sea of glitter particles on my cheekbones. Beware!!!

What did you all think of your Boxycharms this month? What are your likes and dislikes? You know where to leave them!

Besame Cosmetics

Besame Agent Carter – Field Agent Lip Kit – Review Time!

I think I have been waiting for this launch FOREVER! Ok, a little less than a year, but DAMN! In this day and age when life is all about instant gratification, waiting this long had me flashing back to dial up internet and waiting for about 2 hours to download some music.

But don’t fret my friends, the wait was worth it!

The Field Agent Lip Kit was shrouded in secrecy and Besame dropped little nuggets for months, wetting our appetites for this collections:

  • A letter from Howard Stark
  • Speeding Ticket
  • Newspaper Clippings
  • Origami Note

I mean they took the theme seriously and, in retrospect, it was neat. Spying is not easy stuff and I think that the build up and clues sort of led us through all the twists and turns that this profession may take you. Nothing is literally handed to you. You have to work for your lipsticks (err…I mean target). Also, I think they held off with the launch to time it with the upcoming Avengers Infinity War Movie, which is also cool.

The whole concept of the lip kit was crafted down to the last detail. It was like one of those gifts you receive, where you open one box and find another wrapped box and open that one and find another and so on and so on.

When you opened the actual delivery box, you are met with another box that looks like an old fashioned parcel, with postage stamps hailing from all over the world. It’s addressed to Margaret P. Carter and the return address is from Besame Cosmetics. I mean what an introduction!

img_1285

The second box, which I will be buried with,  was a jewelry box. It has the intials PC (Peggy Carter) on the front and when you open this box, you have a note and picture of Howard Stark, looking very Old Hollywood Handsome (I don’t think we would expect anything less from Howard). On the inside lid is the SSR or Shield Logo.

img_1286

Seriously I’m dying right about now! But this is not even the best part!!!

img_1288

There is a secret compartment that houses your “newest pieces of tech” or your three lipsticks. The tubes are in your classic Besame gold, but instead of the usual flower design, it’s a sleek ribbed design with the name of the lipstick written in Typewriter font running down the side. When you open the cap, MARVEL is embossed on the inside tube.

img_1290-1

Ok! Now I am dead!

img_1296

You get three lipstick shades:

  • 102 Sweet Dreams – a deep red shade
  • 103 Forget Me Not – a deep mauve
  • 104 Always Be True – a bright classic red

I like Besame lipsticks, but I have always found them a little dry and if your lips were not properly moisturized, you will find that you have to go over with the color a second time to cover any patchiness. However, I feel like the formula was tweaked a little with this collection, as they are definitely creamier when you swatch and apply.

I do think they benefit from a lip liner and you will have to reapply as I found the colors to fade throughout the day, but I won’t fault it too much as I think that is typical with cream lipsticks.

Besame is scheduled to drop 102 Sweet Dreams as as single, along with a powder compact and an eye palette, which you all know I am going to get and once again make sure that I am buried not only wearing the entire collection, but also with the actual items themselves.

I am affiliated with Besame Cosmetics, so if you want to pick up the Field Agent Lip Kit or any product, you can do so by clicking here. Keep in mind, that you if you purchase anything using my link, I will receive a slight commission.

Did any of you pick up the collections or will you be picking something up? If so, let me know in the comments below.

Till next time, my friends!

Real Her

Real Her Makeup- Review Time!

When I was younger, I didn’t honestly care about things being too sexualized. Not that there is anything wrong with sex and liking it, but there weren’t a lot of brands out there that really tried to change the perception that makeup makes you prettier, sexier and, therefore, more attractive to the opposite sex.

Ahem….Nars Orgasm.

As a (coughs) 40 year old woman, I honestly am over the whole sexualization of makeup. The older I get, the more I realize that makeup is tool of empowerment, not power. I like the idea that I put on lipstick because it makes me happy, not anyone else AND I like a brand that promotes that message because…Why NOT? It’s about time someone does, right?

In comes in Real Her. Are they the first brand to do this? Absolutely NOT, but they are the first, that I am aware of, to literally put messages of empowerment front and center on their products. This is important, because in this day when lipsticks are named Nip Slip and Pout About it, it’s nice to have the option of picking out a nude lipstick called “I Am Perfect” or “I Am Gorgeous”.

At least I think so.

Names aside, do Real Her products perform? Totally!

I LOVE the Lip Kits the most. Consisting of a lip liner, liquid lip and lip gloss in three shades (red, pink and nude), they can be used together to create the perfect plump lip. The lip liner does have to be sharpened, so I will have to deduct points for that, but it’s creamy and won’t skip if your are filling your lips. In fact, as a gloss girl, my favorite look is to fill my lips with the Deep Nude liner and swipe some of the I Am Awesome gloss and I’m good to do.

Speaking of the gloss, I love that it’s not particularly sheer. I like toppers, but sometimes, it’s nice to have something double as color and shine. It’s says that it’s supposed to be slightly plumping, but I don’t find that to be the case at all. You will have to re-apply the gloss throughout the day as the shine will wear off after eating and drinking, so keep that in mind, but I also don’t find that to be unusual for a gloss.

What does have surprising longevity is the liquid lipstick. When I first swatched it on my hand, I had to scrape the pigment off in the shower. This kind of worried me a bit because I like my lipstick to be long wearing, but not permanent. I was already envisioning the color to patch up and look all dry and crusty, however, I didn’t find that to be the case at all. As always, I exfoliated my lips with my Pur Sugar Scrub, applied the lip liner and layered one coat of the liquid lip. It did take a bit to dry, but once it did, then I went over the top with the gloss and I was done. The color did fade throughout the day, but it wasn’t a weird fade that receded from the inner lip to the outer lines, but rather a natural fade all together with just a hint of concentration around the lip line.

I probably should have gone in and reapplied somewhere around the 5 hour mark, but I got lazy and I was in an all day meeting at work and didn’t want to walk to my desk to get my makeup bag.

Excuses, excuses, right?

The Be Fearless, Be Limitless Blush Kit, is not only a mouthful to say, but also perfectly lovely. Consisting of three baked shades in a rosy pink, coral and copper, they give you a lovely glow. The colors are not particularly deep or concentrated, but do provide a natural looking flush. I thought I could use the deeper shade as a bronzer, but it does have a too shimmery element to it, which I don’t care for. I did use it as an all over lid shade in a pinch one day when I was running out the door to do some errands and that worked quite nicely. My favorite is the rose color named Fearless. It has a hint of gold running through it, that’s not particularly overpowering, but I do feel highlights my freckles in a nice way.

If there is one thing that I find a little challenging is the price. The lip kits are $36 and the blushes run you $32, which I find to be a bit higher in price than I like. However, I did see they were running a sale a few weeks ago, so wait for one of those promotions or if you sign up for their newsletter, you will get 10% off your first purchase.

Let me know if you have tried any other Real Her products and, as usual, drop your thoughts and comments below.

Till next time, my friends!

Need, Want, Skip

Need It, Want It, Skip It – New Beauty Releases

From time to time, I surf Trendmood or This is Forty on Instagram to check out any upcoming releases that pique my interest. I always save the posts that interest me and I had developed quite a collection of pictures. Now some of them, in hindsight, are definite Skips, but others fall somewhere in the categories of Need and Want.

The Need and Want categories are so hard to differentiate sometimes because why is it a Need and others just a Want? Wouldn’t you want something you need? I think I’m overthinking this, right?

Anyways, without further ado, here are my current Needs, Wants and Skips.

Need

I only see two Needs in my folder at this time and, I will admit, that both of these “Needs” are really because I love the packaging. I swear, I am your prototypical consumer. Slap something pretty on the front of a palette or create something that appeals to my childhood or inner geek and I’m sold.

Such is the case with the Smashbox x VladaMUA collection. I swear, they could literally be selling me fecal matter and I am 99.9% sure I would buy it because I love Rose Gold and the packaging is outrageously GORGEOUS. Now, I’m not saying I would buy the entire collection, but I’m pretty sure I will pick up something.

Same goes for the upcoming Nyx Steampunk inspired collection. These colors can be pure garbage, but I will still buy it because I happen to love everything about this fictional Victorian era subculture filled with machines and metal.

Want

These are items that I will most likely pick up, but I don’t see any real rush in getting them. I will probably wait till some reviews come out or, better yet, maybe even go on sale before I buy anything.

I love Nudestix and even though I don’t own much from them, I like how easy they make applying makeup look. Therefore, these Tinted Blur Sticks are very much drawing me in right now. If they blur any unwanted features (ahem, sinkhole size pores) while providing some coverage, then I am totally in!

I want something from the Kat Von D 10 Year Anniversary Gold Fever collection because it’s most likely going to be limited edition and a collectors item, so I know I shouldn’t wait for any reviews, but I’m hesitating a little. Not sure why it’s not a Need, but maybe I have to trust my gut and wait.

I love a good lip gloss and having never head of Hank & Henry, I was intrigued by these. They don’t look like anything special, but wondering about the overall product. I think I will wait to see how the reviews go before I shell out $17 for a lip topper.

Does anyone else think that both Maybelline and L’Oréal coming out with fruit inspired collections at the same time is kind of weird? Isn’t the fruit theme a little played out already (i.e. Too Faced Peach EVERYTHING)? Regardless, these are cute and with a coupon or sale, I will probably pick one up. They both look pretty similar to me, so I guess it will just depend on who goes on sale first.

img_1640

Skip

I MIGHT wait for a coupon or a sale, but chances are higher that I will skip this Neutrogena x Kerry Washington collection. The cheek palette looks absolutely adorable, but I must admit that the eyeshadows are not drawing me in. I know I have all these colors already, therefore, unless you are just starting your makeup collection there is no need to add the Essential Eye palette to my stash.

Same goes for the Wet n’ Wild Midnight Mermaid collection below. I love that more and more brands are coming out with blues, but this is just a tad bit too dark and moody for my taste. I prefer something just a bit brighter.

Anybody feeling a little burnt out by the Kardashians? Seriously, I like them, but I feel like this Kourtney x Kylie collab is just a bit tardy to the party.

Last on the Skip list are highlighters in general. I have come to the conclusion that I don’t need another highlighter and since I tend to stick to the same light golden shade for the most part, there is no need for me to pick up any of the below any time soon. I mean they are pretty, but, whatever! Not feeling highlighters lately for some reason.

To Be Determined

I’m pretty interested in seeing what Becca and Chrissy Teigen come up with, but no details yet other than something is in the works, so will wait and see what they have for us.

Anyone else see something lately that they are Needing, Wanting or Skipping? If so, drop the link in the comments below.

Ittse

Ittse Glambition Quad – Review Time!

If you are a long time reader/friend of my blog, you may already know that I can be kind of a Hot Mess. Not on purpose, of course. As a working mom, I’m just kind of pulled in a million directions at all times and my day can consist of work meetings, after school activities, homework and housework. When your day is split up like that, I don’t have the time or desire to do a full face of complicated makeup.

Now when I say I don’t want any complications, it doesn’t mean that I want something uninspiring or boring, but easy. I don’t want to take out 72 products just to look put together.

Ain’t nobody got time for that!

So when I saw that Itsse was having a sale on their quad collab with Love for Laquer, I knew that I was going to pick that up and see if I can switch from “Hot Mess” to “Hot-Ness”.

See what I did there?? 😉

The Glambition Collection is really up my alley for multiple reasons:

  • The golden pinky color spectrum is so easy to work with. Perfect for a natural look, with just right amount of shimmer and glam to give it that “I’m Naturally Glowy” look.
  • They are buttery to the touch and are really blendable. The shimmery shades can be foiled for that metallic kick or patted on with your finger and the matte blends BEAUTIFULLY with a fluffy brush. There is a bit of kick up when you dip your brush into the product, but nothing major, in my opinion.
  • They are multifunctional colors. The pinky peach matte cheek color in #GIRLBOSS is actually a fantastic transition or crease shade.
  • Same goes for Run the World  (pinky shimmer) and Hustle & Glow (yellow gold shimmer) illuminators. They can be used on the lids, inner corners, under the brow bone and on the cheekbones. However, I will say that they are a bit glittery, so if you don’t like a chunky highlighter, I would avoid putting them on the cheeks or go in with a light hand.
  • Goal Digger, a beautiful rose gold shimmer, deserves it’s own bullet point. I LOVE this color.  It’s not an overpowering pink or chunky in any way and if you want an easy look, just pat it on your lid with a bit of #GIRLBOSS on the crease. If you want to take it up a notch, get a dark brown shade and build up that outer V and add a winged liner. Perfection!

The last point is the only real downside I find to this collection. I need to add a little depth to my crease and outer V and usually go into a chocolatey brown. Is that a real problem? No. These are singles, so when I was curating a palette around these colors, I picked out a nice brown from another palette and added it to this one. You can also dip into your contour or bronzer in a pinch.

Sephora VIB Sale

What’s In My Cart? – Sephora VIB Spring Sale

The Sephora VIB Sale is upon us and once again all of beauty humanity is going bananas for a whopping 15% off.

Not judging (only myself) because I have my cart and credit card ready and waiting to hit Checkout.

Most of the time, I usually take the time to stock up on some essentials, but a few non-essentials caught my eye this time and my cart is actually looking a bit fun.

Kicking it off with a definite essential is my beloved Farsali Rose Gold Elixir. I love this stuff. It’s light and makes for the perfect base for my foundation. Honestly, I often use it in lieu of moisturizer and primer. It’s that good!

I’m in the market for a new foundation and I don’t usually buy high end, but I recently saw an article my mom posted on Facebook (you know the LEADING authority on beauty) that says to splurge on skincare, foundation and concealer and go drugstore for everything else (let’s not go crazy Facebook!). Therefore, I’m adding the highly regarded Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation and possibly this cute Too Faced Sex on the Peach Complexion set. I heard the foundation and powder are really good!

Do I need both? No, but DUDE…. 15% off!!

Now we are going into non-essential territory. I need another palette like I need a hole in the head, but I’ve been lusting over this Huda Beauty Obessions Eyeshadow Palette since last year and I’m going to go for it. It’s petite, colorful and for $27, you can’t beat the price.

I’m still debating the last two because I am seriously over budget at this point, but they made it to the cart for the moment. I own nothing from Fenty Beauty and my willpower is slowly fading. This Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer and Kilowatt Freestyle Highligher Duo have been driving me crazy and it’s one of those things where if you still want it after so many months, then you have to get it. Not that I need it, but they are so pretty and feminine.

I may not be able to resist!

What’s in your cart? Drop your link below and let me see what you are getting.

Till next time, my friends!!

Palette of the Month

Looking Back- Palette of the Month Too Faced Sweet Peach

When I decided to pick a Palette of the Month, I thought it would be hard to use the same palette over and over again.

And it was!

I would just get caught up in something new I got or a particular eye look I was going for that fell outside of the options the Sweet Peach palette had. However, it was when I started reaching for this palette as a foundation rather than a stand alone, that’s when things changed.

You see, back when I bought his palette, I was all about the warm tone peachy shades. They were easy to use and not intimidating. I’m a bit more practiced now than I was then and I feel more comfortable using darker and brighter colors, so that’s why this palette appealed less and less to me through the months.

I was actually thinking to declutter it at one point, but decided against it because there are some really great shades to use

My favorite shades to use are:

  • Peaches and Cream: the perfect nude base.
  • Georgia: lived this as a transition color. It’s not as light pink as it looks.
  • Charmed, I’m Sure: a lovely chocolate brown that I use to deepen the outer V all the time.
  • Purée: transition shade perfection.
  • Summer Yum: another nice transition shade. A bit redder in color than Purée.
  • Bellini: bright, shimmery peach. Perfect for all over lid.
  • Luscious: simple and shimmery champagne color. Nice for spotlight effect or even in the inner corner.

With all that being said, I don’t actually have a lot of pictures to show you. Mostly because I just forgot to take pictures , but also because I was using one or two shades sometimes with other palettes and it was hardly noticeable.

So no judging. I promise I will do better in April.

So seeing as I needed a little more color for inspiration, this months palette is the lovely, purple and orange hued Desert Dust from Huda Beauty.

Feel free to send me any eyelooks your created with this palette for inspiration.

Till next time, my friends!
