What’s in my Travel Bag? Universal Halloween Horror Nights Edition

I am activating mini-vacation mode. Hubs and I are heading to Orlando for Halloween Horror Nights and you know I have to prepare what I’m going to wear…. On my face!!!!

I’ll be there for less than 24 hours so going into it I was like “I’ll just pack a few things.” Well, let me tell you, apparently it takes like 20 items to make me beautiful.

I knew I wanted a sunset red look for the eyes, because I was going to wear my favorite red and navy plaid shirt, so I popped out Old Faithful (AKA: Modern Renaissance by Anastasia Beverly Hills). I figured I wanted a lighter face look if I wanted to do a smoky eye , so I then threw in some  mascara, brow pomade, blush, bronzer, highlighter, foundation, concealer and 3 lipstick options.

What no contour?

Nah…. I didn’t want to over do it.

Seven brushes later and a handful of travel size moisturizers, toners and face masks, I was finally done.

I wish I could have told you I carefully packed everything in a cute little (big?) makeup bag, but no. I threw it all in a huge zip lock bag and stowed it away in my overnight bag.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that ground you back to reality, right?

If you’ve never been to Halloween Horror Nights, it’s a yearly event Universal Studios Florida has where they shut down some rides at night and set up walk thru haunted houses. It’s fun and full of scares and good times. Below are some pics that I took and a quick video from one of the Scare Zones. I wish I had more, but I was really enjoying the moment and just forgot to snap more pics.

Till next time friends!!

Shake What Yo Momma Gave Ya!

So I was totally naked today. Not like “Free the Boobies” naked, but like, no foundation naked. For all you clear faced gals out there, I know you are wondering, “What’s the big deal?” But trust me, for some one who has freckles, wrinkles, acne scars and actual acne (at 40!), this is a big deal.

I didn’t necessarily have a perfect skin day. In fact, I am currently sporting 3 zits, major under eye circles, the usual forehead wrinkles and the ever-present freckles. In fact, since it’s summer, my freckles look like they had babies, so there are even more in my face…like literally! However, today I wanted to wear this new stick concealer I’ve been liking from Besame, but I couldn’t find it. So since I was in such a rush, I decided to just hit the Tarte Shape tape in the problem areas (see above). Highlight with my CoverFX Enhancer Drops in Sunlight. Do a little quick  dab and blend with my NARS Liquid Blush in Torrid. Contour the eyes a bit with the Hard Candy Top 10 Satin EyeShadow palette and curl the lashes with my trust Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara. And brows…this girl needs brows. Then top it off with some Stila Liquid Lipstick in Patina.

Gee…that actually sounds like a lot, but work with me, ok?

The look was certainly not perfect. In fact, I picked apart my imperfections in the rearview mirror when I was dropping off the kids in school, but as I was listening to “I Like It” from Enrique Iglesias in the radio on my way back, I started thinking that I actually do like it and as started dancing along, it became even more apparent that I need to appreciate what I got.

Screw the zits, freckles, and wrinkles. I may not be perfect, but I am alive and healthy and I will continue to Shake What My Momma Gave Me.

Rock on, my friends!

Sunday Fun Day – Father’s Day Edition

Happy Father’s Day!

Whether you are dad, uncle, brother or just a damn good friend to someone, just know that you have the potential to be an inspiration to kids, young and old, in this world.

Today, the kids and I took Hubs out for a Father’s Day lunch. Nothing fancy, really. Just stopped by our favorite Ale House in Miami Lakes to spend some time together and celebrate.

When I was going through my palettes, I looked at the back of the organizer and saw the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and I knew that I wanted to use it today. Funny, that it is so light and pink, and I wanted to use it for Father’s Day. Not that you couldn’t use it, but my first thought was to go with something bold and sexy, like a red lip and cat eye, because that’s what my husband really likes (if you know what I mean…wink, wink!)

Anyways, I digress.

As I was saying, the Naked 3 was probably one of my first high end palettes, so it’s an oldie, but definitely a goodie. My favorite color is Nooner. It’s the perfect Mauve and on the crease provides just the right amount of definition. I blend out the edges a bit with Limit and then deepen the outer V with Darkside. On the lid, I used Trick and then tapped some of Stila’s Magnificent Metal’s in Kitten Karma to make it really pop.

The rest of the face, consisted of the following:

  • CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir in Creamy Natural
  • Tarte Shape Tape in Light Natural
  • CoverFx Custom Enhancer Drops in Sunlight
  • Becca Blushed with Light Blush Trio Pallete – I mixed Wisteria and Snapdragon
  • Marcelle Xtension Plus Curl Mascara in Black
  • Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Lip Color in Cherry Blossom

As a side note, you know your look was On Pointe, when your soon to be 12 year old came up to you and asked what colors I used in my eye look and then spent one hour in the bathroom trying to recreate it.  🙂

Have a wonderful Sunday, my friends!
